Jill instantly felt guilty. She knew deep down she could never run away and not find out what was going on, but with everything heating up with Ax, the last thing she wanted to do was look like a crazy stalker or someone who was ready to interfere with the biker’s business affairs.
“Come on,” she said as she strode toward the door.
Star followed behind her and Jill had a newfound sense of urgency. All she could think about was Ax and ensuring that he was okay. What if something terrible had happened, and he was hurt, or worse… It wouldn’t be the first time tragedy had struck at the club. She felt the tears welling up behind her eyes.
Don’t do this to me, she pleaded internally. I’ve only just found him. Don’t you dare take him away this fast.
They reached the end of the corridor and Jill didn’t wait a second before she pushed the swinging doors wide open and dashed inside. Star was right close behind her, and both girls ground to a halt before they even had the chance to step any further into the room. Jill’s mouth sagged open, and her heart began to pound harder than ever as she took in the scene in front of her. Pure fright was rolling over her entire body, a feeling so dark and unsettling she had no clue of what to say, or where to look, or how to react.
Right there, in the middle of the room, were at least ten of The Forsaken Riders. They were standing in a circle, all brandishing knives and guns, and in the very middle of them, bound and chained, was a familiar face, albeit bloodied and bruised. He was swollen and disfigured and beaten to a pulp. Jill knew before anyone said anything what was happening. And now, she knew that it was all her fault.
Ax was standing there with his shoulders heaving and his breathing heavy. She took a step forward.
“Ax?” she whispered as he turned to glare at her with wide eyes. She let her gaze travel down to his hand and she saw he was wearing a knuckle duster, covered and dripping in blood. She felt her stomach lurch.
The man in the middle was tied to a chair with his hands behind his back and he coughed and spluttered, and spat a huge glob of bloodied spit onto the ground. Jill could see how hurt he was, he was covered in injuries and looked on the verge of slipping into unconsciousness. Ax was in front of him, and had clearly been the one delivering the blows. Jill held her hand up to cover her mouth and try to hold back the tears.
The man in the chair being given the beating of his life was the club’s security guard.
Jill had fucked up. She had fucked up big time.
“Jill,” Ax panted as he stepped back and mopped his brow with the back of his wrist. “What are you doing here?”
All of the other bikers seemed to round on her and Star too and she felt her heart begin to race even faster.
“Girls,” Bull said as he took a step toward them. “The club is closed and neither of you are supposed to be here, how did you get in?”
Jill looked across to Star but neither of them dared speak. All Jill could focus on was the beaten man in the center of the room, the pools of blood around him on the floor, and the fact that the man she was falling for had caused him all of that pain and suffering.
“Jill…” Ax said softly again as he took a step closer to her.
“I’m sorry,” Jill said. “We… We came to pick something up and the back door was open.”
“For fuck’s sake, Lynx,” Ax hissed. “I gave you one job.”
Lynx shrugged and snorted.
“What does it matter?” Lynx said. “It’s not like these two aren’t trustworthy. If it wasn’t for Jill, we wouldn’t have even had the heads up about this piece of shit.” He motioned to the security guard in the middle of the room.
Jill’s stomach dropped again. So it was all of her fault.
“I better go,” Jill said hurriedly as she turned and ran back toward the door to the hallway.
Star was right behind her, pushing her on and making sure they got out of there as quickly as possible. If there was one thing they both knew, it was not to get involved in the clubs business. It could never end well.
“What did he mean?” Star asked as they reached the end of the hallway and burst out into the desert sun. “When he said that you gave them the heads up?”
Jill rubbed her forehead and squinted as she tried to shield her eyes.
“Last night when Ax and I were talking,” she said. “I mentioned how we were glad he was going to be around from now on and maybe it would stop the security from taking so much of a cut.”
“Shit,” Star said. “So it wasn’t authorized….”
Jill shook her head.
Behind them, suddenly, the door opened and Ax stepped out into the daylight. He was dabbing at his knuckles with an old rag and he already had a cigarette clamped between his teeth. He looked at the girls sternly and then kicked the door closed behind him.
“Star, can you give us a minute,” he said. Again, it was not a question but an order.
Star looked at Jill and Jill nodded, and watched as Star turned and began to walk around the side of the club and out of the parking lot to the side of the highway.
Jill turned back to Ax and felt the tears start to fall.
“I’m sorry,” she whimpered. “I didn’t know…”
“Babe,” Ax soothed as he stepped forward and took hold of her shoulders. “Why are you apologizing?”
She looked into his eyes and could see there was no anger there. He had been mean and aggressive when he had come out but now, just in her presence, he was softening.
“Because this is all of my fault, I never should have said anything…” She rubbed her eyes and just wanted the world to open up and swallow her whole.
Ax snorted and then laughed.
“Are you fucking kidding me?” he asked as he tilted her chin up so she had no choice but to stare directly into his eyes. “If you hadn’t said anything we never would have found out. This is one of the most important rumbles of our clubs entire history.”
“What do you mean?” Jill sniffed as she wiped the tears from her eyes.
“The reason he’s in such a state in there isn’t because he was skimming money,” Ax started. “It’s because when we confronted him about it, he thought we were accusing him of something else. He thought he had been caught for something bigger and he admitted it all gladly.”
“What?” Jill was even more confused. “What did he do?”
Ax rubbed his chin and sucked on his cigarette before exhaling smoke out into the warm wind.
“That fucker in there isn’t a security guard,” Ax said seriously as he looked at Jill sternly in the eyes. “He’s an Iron Rider. He’s been sent here to infiltrate The Forsaken and if it wasn’t for you, he just may have succeeded.”
Jill’s blood ran cold.
“An Iron Rider?” she asked with her mouth agape.
The Forsaken’s oldest and most loathed enemy. The reason why Tanner and Marv were dead, and the reason for the war that had been brewing for as long as Jill could remember.
“He knows too much, Jill,” Ax said with worry. “And he’s fed it all back to them.”
Jill could only imagine the severity of the situation and she realized her hands were trembling.
She pulled Ax close to her and held him tight. Her man was in danger, she knew that now. But she also knew now that he was in her life, she would do anything to save him.
12.
When Jill arrived home, her head was spinning. The last thing she had ever expected to happen when she agreed to go on a date with the raw and dangerous Ax was to help uncover one of the biggest infiltrations in The Forsaken Rider’s history.
The security had been there for months, collecting information, watching how their operations were handled, gaining their trust… and worst of all, stealing from right under their noses.
Even Jill felt sick at the possible implications of such a massive security breach. She knew the outcome could be far reaching and very, very frightening. Not just for The Forsaken Riders, but for the whole of Slate Spri
ngs. Who knew what could happen if the Forsaken were overthrown and another gang managed to take over the town. It was a terrifying prospect.
She slumped down on her couch and sighed. Her whole body felt like it had taken a beating, but it was from the emotional trauma working its way to the surface. She thought of how she had started the day in a completely different frame of mind, but now she felt worried and uncertain about the future of her place at Tanner’s, and of her future with Ax.
What if this makes him leave? she thought as she felt the tears welling up behind her eyes. What if I’ve opened myself up to the possibility of nothing? Maybe I shouldn’t have gone out with him…
But even as it crossed her mind, she knew she didn’t mean it. The previous evening had been one of the best of her entire life. She had felt sexy, confident, worshipped, and she had felt as if she had known the man for years. He had truly brought her back to life after months of liberating herself but ultimately closing herself off to living a real life. There was only so much shutting herself away after work and renovating a girl could handle. She wanted someone by her side again. She needed a partner in crime and someone to love.
As the sun began to set, she closed her eyes and daydreamed. It had been a few seriously crazy days, but this was the first time she had really just taken time to unwind and think about it all. She had either been working or stressing about impending meetings with Ax.
As she lay there and the pinkish sunset gleamed through the curtains, suddenly she heard the roar of an engine and her heart began to pound. It was a motorcycle. It was Ax’s motorcycle.
She jumped to her feet and ran to the doorway and threw it open. He skidded to a halt behind her car and pulled off his helmet and leather jacket. As he did so, he revealed his bulging muscles popping out of the sides of his vest. His arms were thick and so very masculine it made her tremble.
“I couldn’t leave you here alone,” he said as he strode confidently toward the door and swept her up in his arms.
The sensation of having his hands at her waist was both comforting and intimidating. He gripped her tightly, almost fitting the entire circumference of his fingers around her, and once again, she was completely at his mercy.
He was so big.
So strong.
“Is everything okay?” she whispered as their lips broke apart for a moment. “What happened to him?” She was referring to the infiltrator.
“He’s going to be dealt with accordingly,” Ax said as he brushed a strand of hair out of Jill’s eyes.
“Accordingly?” she winced as she asked.
Ax nodded slowly and Jill realized she didn’t want to know anymore. She could only imagine what horrible things they had in store for him. But she was pretty sure it would involve a freshly dug hole in the desert.
She shivered.
“Come in,” she said as she took hold of Ax’s hand and led him into her front room.
She watched as his eyes flitted around the place, taking in her personal style and the items she had collected over the years. He smiled as he stopped and looked at a framed photograph of her at the beach when she was a child, looking into the sun and squinting, her skin tanned, brown as a berry.
“Cute,” he said as he put the frame back down and turned to her. “But much cuter now, of course.”
Jill rolled her eyes.
“All kids are cute,” she said. “I’m a woman now.”
“That you are,” he said as he moved forward and kissed her again. “A woman who is driving me wild.”
He tasted of smoke and it made her quiver. She didn’t know what it was about him, all of his bad habits were so inexplicably sexy it made her toes curl.
“Would you like a drink?” She giggled as he grunted and pulled her close to him by the waist band of her shorts.
“Sure,” he said. “What’re we having?”
Jill wandered through into the kitchen and Ax followed her. She could feel his eyes on her ass, watching it undulate and shake with each little step. She moved it sexily in an understated way, wanting to make him even more turned on than she could already tell he was.
When she reached the refrigerator, she opened up the freezer and pulled out a bottle of vodka. She held it up and grinned.
“That’ll do all right,” he smiled back. “Straight up for me.”
Jill nodded and reached for two glasses. As she cracked in some ice and poured, she could sense his need growing. Just watching her move was turning him on, and in turn, it was making Jill wet. She could feel his hunger. His lust. His animal magnetism.
“Here,” she passed the glass to him. “Shall we go outside, it’s a lovely night?”
Ax grabbed her by the hand and pulled her toward the back door. He slid it open and suddenly, they were underneath the stars. The desert sky was crystal clear above them and all of the heavens seemed to be shining down.
“I like this better than the sun,” he said as he wrapped his arm around her. “I love being outside at night, so the fact that you’ve just suggested this makes me even more sure of how alike we are.”
Jill smiled and felt warm inside. With each passing moment she spent with him, she was becoming sure of it too.
He sat down on the padded lounger and Jill climbed in between Ax’s legs. She lay against his chest with her back along him and they both looked up at the universe above them.
“How long before we see a shooting star?” she whispered.
“Any second,” he said confidently.
And then, as if he had been able to see into the future, right there and then a bright, white, flash of star burst and trailed over their heads.
“Oh my god!” Jill gasped as she sat up and watched it disappear almost as quickly as it had happened. “Did you see it?”
“Of course,” Ax smiled. “But you know it’s only pieces of space dust entering our atmosphere, don’t you?”
“Shh,” she hissed. “Don’t spoil it for me. That was incredible.”
“Best make a wish then,” he said.
Jill’s spine tingled. Right then, in that moment, she knew exactly what she would wish for. His body, against her body… All night long.
She felt herself blushing and she raised her glass to her lips and sipped it slowly. The warmth inside her was spreading and culminating right between her legs at her sweetest spot. When she looked back up to Ax, she could feel his arousal too. He was breathing heavily and his eyes were hungry with need.
Jill rested her glass down and took his out of his hands too. She leaned closer to him and let him run his hands through her hair. She could feel the cold metal of his chunky rings brushing against her skin and it made her groan.
“Kiss me,” she panted as his lips skimmed against hers. The bristles from his beard tickled her, and all she could think about was where else that would feel so very, very good. Her heart began to race.
Ax held onto her by the neck and kissed her hard on the mouth. His lips and tongue were fevered and hungry, and she was sure there was a heat inside him that felt almost unnatural. He was such a brute. A complete force to be reckoned with. And she was about to entice him into her bed and let him do whatever he wanted with her.
He held her tight and pulled her closer to him. Jill ran her hands across his chest and felt his rock hard abs beneath the vest he was wearing, and she wondered how long she would be able to last before she had to pull it off.
Ax suddenly grabbed her by the waist and flipped her over onto her back and climbed on top of her. As he pressed down between her thighs, she could feel the rock hard poke of his cock and it made her pussy twitch with need. She gasped as he kissed her again and threw her head back as he trailed her neck with bites and kisses. Each and every time his mouth touched her, it brought with it a new sensation she had never felt before, and her skin was alive with tension.
“I’ve thought about doing this since the moment I first saw you,” he said. “I couldn’t wait to get my hands on you properly.”
Jill whimpered as she let her hand run over the full length of his bulge and she could feel how big he was. He was hiding a monster in his pants, and she couldn’t wait to see it. Ax ran his hands up her side to her breasts and squeezed them both just hard enough for it to sting, but even that was oh so good. Jill bit her lips and instinctively spread her legs wide, and Ax was straight between them, wrapping his fingers into the waistband of her shorts and working them down quickly over her hips. Her panties were tiny and lace, and he flicked a finger over her clit through the fabric. Jill gasped. His touch was incredible. And she held onto his neck as she slowly worked his hand down and inside.
He massaged her slowly, working her sweetest spot, and as he moved further down to her opening and slipped a big, long finger up inside her he groaned when he discovered how wet she was.
“Wow, babe,” he said. “You are so fucking wet.”
Jill gasped again as he moved backward and kneeled down on the ground. He pulled her by the hips toward the edge of the sunbed and lifted her ankles high and put them on his shoulders.
“I’ve got to taste you,” he whispered as he ripped off her panties and threw them behind him.
She held her breath as he gripped onto the tops of her thighs and she could feel his mouth working its way down to where she wanted him to be. Each kiss was tender, but as he got closer to her cunt he nibbled and flicked his tongue, and suddenly, as he ran his tongue over her clit, she bucked her hips and moaned with pleasure. An intense heat rolled over her and she couldn’t help but scream. He was incredible and he was sending her to places she had never even known.
He slipped a finger inside of her while he licked her clit and sent her into a frenzy. Jill ran her hands through his hair and looked down at him, unable to fully believe it was even happening. She was the luckiest girl alive to have this man pleasuring her in such a way. It almost didn’t seem real.
He pressed down harder and Jill’s whole body tensed. She knew he was going to make her cum, but the tension for her to hold on was only making it even more impossible to stop it from happening. He ran his tongue the full length of her slit and she began to unravel. Her hips bucked and her thighs gripped onto him as he lapped at her pussy and tasted her sweet juices. She was completely his, and as she had the most incredible orgasm of her life, she screamed up into the night’s sky.
